BAS representation in upcoming BWF World Junior Badminton Championships 2025

GANGTOK, : Badminton Association of Sikkim (BAS) general secretary Sukanta Das has been officially nominated as a member of BWF & BAI organising committee for the upcoming BWF World Junior Badminton Championships 2025.

Das was nominated to the organising committee by Badminton Association of India (BAI) president and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Adding to this historic moment, two of our respected national umpires, Sameer Gurung and Tshering Doma Bhutia, have also been nominated by the Technical Officials Committee of BAI as technical officials for the championship, said the BAS in a press statement.

For the Badminton Association of Sikkim, this recognition is a matter of immense pride, symbolising the association’s growing contribution to Indian badminton, said the association.

The BWF World Junior Badminton Championships 2025 will be hosted in Guwahati, from 6th to 19th October 2025 at the National Centre of Excellence. This prestigious event returns to India for the first time since 2008, when it was last hosted in Pune.

This global championship will bring together the next generation of badminton stars from around the world, showcasing exceptional young talent and cementing India’s position as a rising powerhouse in the global badminton landscape, the release mentions.
