GANGTOK,: Under the direction of BJP Sikkim State president D. R. Thapa, a
high-level party delegation visited the Indane Bottling Plant of the Indian Oil
Corporation Limited (IOCL) located at Majitar, Rangpo on Thursday. The urgent
visit was initiated to address the acute shortage of LPG cylinders currently
being faced by the people of Sikkim across various parts of the State, said the
State BJP in a media statement.
The
BJP delegation was led by State spokesperson Sangay Gyatso Bhutia, and
accompanied by State secretary Sangay Pulger and BJYM State president Lalit
Pokhrel.
The
team held a detailed meeting with the assistant manager of the plant, Ajay
Kumar. The core agenda revolved around pinpointing the bottlenecks causing the
state-wide LPG supply crunch and finding immediate solutions.
During
the briefing, the plant management informed that the Majitar plant caters to
all 22 distributors operating across Sikkim. Out of these 22 distributors, 4
dedicatedly cater to the defense forces stationed in the border State.
The
BJP team proactively raised several pressing issues during the meeting,
incorporating critical feedback obtained from their deliberation with the State
Trading Corporation of Sikkim (STCS) just a day prior.
The
delegation strictly questioned the management regarding the recent drops in
supply volume directly from the bottling plant besides the widespread public
distress and confusion surrounding the ongoing DAC (Delivery Authentication
Code) and KYC (Know Your Customer) verification processes.
Responding
to the intervention, the bottling plant manager gave strong assurances to the
delegation to ease the public's anxiety.
The
plant management committed that there will be no shortages in the supply of LPG
cylinders from their bottling plant to the citizens of Sikkim. To clear any
existing backlog, the management committed to running the bottling plant for
extra hours if the market demand escalates, said the State BJP.
The
plant assured that they have maintained an adequate backup supply to seamlessly
handle any unforeseen emergencies or transit blockages, added the State BJP.
