Chief Justice lays foundation stone for Jorethang Sub-Divisional Court Complex

NAMCHI,  (IPR): Justice Biswanath Somadder, the Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court, laid a foundation stone for the construction of Jorethang Sub-Divisional Court Complex at Karfectar today.

As per the technical report presented by Buildings and Housing PCE-cum-secretary Asha Gurung, the complex consists of three structures, viz. main court building, annexe building and judicial magistrate's bungalow.

The three-storey main court building will have several important facilities including judicial magistrate's room, peshkar's room, court room, steno room, litigants waiting lounge, prosecution staff room, CI's room public prosecutor's room, VC room, accounts room and malkhana.

The annexe building is a one-storey structure consisting of cafeteria, kitchen store room and driver's room. The single-storeyed judicial magistrate's bungalow with GCI roofing has provisions of master bedroom, two separate bedrooms with attached washroom facility, attendant's room, kitchen/dining room, study room and remand room.

During the laying of foundation stone, the Chief Justice was accompanied by Prajwal Khatiwada, registrar general, High Court of Sikkim; Nima Gyalpo Sherpa, director, Sikkim Judicial Academy; and Karma Wangchuk Bhutia, principal district and sessions judge, Gangtok and OSD to the Chief Justice.

Also present were Law secretary, SSLSA member secretary, High Court registrars, district and sessions judges, BAR Association members, chief judicial magistrates, judicial magistrates, senior advocates, judicial members, Namchi DC, members of Lok Adalat, District Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission and Juvenile Justice Board, officials from line departments and others.
