Chief Minister’s Compound Archery Gold Cup 2026 to start on March 14

GANGTOK,: The 24th Chief Minister’s Compound Archery Gold Cup 2026 is being hosted by Gyalshing Archery Association at Peythang Archery Field, Rabdentse in Geyzing district from March 14.

A preparatory meeting regarding the archery tournament was held yesterday at Kyongsa Stadium, Geyzing under the chairmanship of Pujan Rai, the OSD to the Buildings & Housing minister.

At the meeting, the committee informed that the cash prize for this year’s Chief Minister’s Compound Archery Gold Cup has been enhanced to Rs. 5 lakh along with the trophy for the winner, and Rs. 3 lakh along with the trophy for the runners-up.

The organizing committee expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay for his guidance and encouragement. The tournament this year would be a grand event under his visionary leadership, said the committee.

The committee informed that the tournament will be played in a traditional manner and in traditional attire from March 14 onwards at Peythang Archery Field, Rabdentse, a press release informs.

The committee has called for maximum participants from the archery clubs of Sikkim in this knock-out tournament. Only one seeded and one non-seeded player from foreign countries is allowed.

The committee has also expressed its sincere gratitude to the Archery Association of Sikkim for giving the opportunity to Gyalshing Archery Association to host this prestigious tournament and showing confidence on the committee.

Minister Sonam Lama is the chief patron of the tournament with minister Bhim Hang Limboo as the patron.

The committee members are Sonam Palzor Bhutia (president), Rinzing Yongda Bhutia (vice president), Pem Tshering Bhutia (general secretary), Namgyal Bhutia (joint secretary), and Topgay Bhutia and Karma Dadul Bhutia as members, the press release informs.
