GANGTOK, : Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay on Monday called on Prime
Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.
During
the meeting, the Chief Minister conveyed, on behalf of the people of Sikkim,
heartfelt gratitude for the Prime Minister’s visionary leadership, unwavering
support, and encouragement that continue to guide Sikkim’s journey of peace,
progress, and prosperity, a CMO press release informs.
The
Chief Minister congratulated the Prime Minister on the historic launch of GST
2.0, describing it as a transformative reform aimed at strengthening ease of
doing business, empowering small and medium enterprises, advancing cooperative
federalism, and easing the tax burden on citizens.
Recalling
the Prime Minister’s gracious consent to visit Sikkim during the Golden Jubilee
of Statehood in May 2025, the Chief Minister expressed deep appreciation for
his continued goodwill. Although the visit had to be cancelled due to
unfavourable weather conditions, the Chief Minister noted that the Prime
Minister’s message of encouragement had deeply inspired the people of Sikkim.
He extended a renewed invitation to the Prime Minister to visit the State
towards the end of November 2025.
During
the meeting, the Chief Minister also presented long-pending issues of
historical, social, political, and cultural importance for the Prime Minister’s
kind consideration.
The
Prime Minister appreciated Sikkim’s unity, cultural richness, and steady
development, and assured his positive support towards the State’s aspirations,
the release mentions.
Expressing
optimism about the future, the Chief Minister said he was confident that under
the Prime Minister’s visionary leadership and invaluable guidance, Sikkim will
continue to move ahead with strength, purpose, and dignity towards a golden,
prosperous, and secure future, the CMO release adds.
