Darap Summer Cup: Four teams secure semi-final berth

GEYZING, : A total of four teams have entered the semi-final of the Summer Cup Futsal Tournament played at Darap Senior Secondary School's playground on Friday. 

In the quarter-finalmatches played today, Power Kyongsa FC, Saroj FC, and Pelling

Brotherhood FC (Sardung) and Mangsabung FC emerged victorious and have secured a semi-final berth.

Education Assistant Officer (AEO) Karma Tshering Bhutia, who had graced the tournament, lauded Darap Football Academy (DFA) for their commitment in the fight against drug abuse, growing online gambling habits, and rising cases of suicide.He appreciated DFA’s effort in promotion of mental health wellbeing amongst youth through sports-based initiatives.

Bhutia emphasized that awareness and collective participation of society and people for finding a concrete solution for mitigation of such glaring issues by ensuring engagement of youth in constructive initiatives might be helpful to keep the present generation from falling prey to social vices and other mental health issues due to various factors.

SI (special branch) AmalMuringla, who was a special guest, in his brief interaction with media, maintained that DFA's initiative of spreading awareness on the glaring issues prevalent in the society, such as drug addiction, the regular occurrence of suicide, mental health issues, and online gambling vices, needed to be commended and encouraged.

Muringla further expressed that the society needed an integrated approach and effort to deal with the vices the society was falling victim to due to ignorance and lack of awareness.

The Summer Cup Futsal Tournament is organized by Darap Football Academy.
