SORENG, (IPR):
The district inspection committee led by Soreng ADC D.R. Bista conducted a
comprehensive inspection of all three child care homes in the district on
November 28 and 29. The inspection committee also has CDPO Gauri Tamang, DCPO
Peter Rai, protection officer T.M. Sharma, welfare inspector Varsha Chettri,
legal-cum-probation officer Aeromeena Lepcha, outreach worker Nisha Chettri and
counsellors
The
visit aimed to evaluate the living conditions, facilities, and overall welfare
of the children housed in these care homes, ensuring compliance with the
Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, and other
relevant regulations.
During
the inspection, the ADC interacted with the children, staff, and management to
assess their needs and address any challenges faced by the institutions. The
key areas of focus include infrastructure and hygiene, health and nutrition,
education and skill development, and safety and security.
The
ADC appreciated the efforts of the care home staff in creating a nurturing
environment for the children. Some suggestions were put forth by the team to
the management, certain areas requiring improvement were identified and the
team directed the management and assured them of the district administration’s
support in addressing the issues.
He
mentioned that the district administration is committed to upholding the rights
and well-being of children and will continue to monitor child care homes
regularly.
It
may be mentioned that this quarterly inspection is part of the ongoing efforts
to ensure that every child in Soreng has access to a safe, secure, and
empowering environment.
