Drug Users’ Forum to organise marathon on World AIDS Day

GANGTOK,: On the occasion of World AIDS Day, Sikkim Drug Users’ Forum (SDUF) in partnership with Sikkim State AIDS Control Society (SSACS) is organising a marathon to raise awareness, encourage prevention and show solidarity with people living with HIV/AIDS and other vulnerable communities.

This year’s theme, “Take the Rights Path,” emphasizes the importance of respecting and protecting the rights of all individuals, including people living with HIV (PLHIV), and vulnerable groups such as people who use drugs, individuals in sex work, MSM, and transgender communities.

The event aims to break the stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS while promoting access to healthcare and human rights for all, informs a press release.

The marathon will start from Deorali Taxi Stand and conclude at MG Marg in front of the Tourist Information Center.

The SDUF has invited individuals of all fitness levels, community members, civil society organisations and stakeholders to participate in the event. “Together, every step we take can make a difference in the fight against HIV/AIDS,” the release adds.
