GANGTOK,: A preliminary meeting was chaired J.D. Bhutia, secretary to the Governor of Sikkim, at Raj Bhavan, Gangtok today to discuss crucial agendas aimed at enhancing the education sector in Sikkim.
Vice chancellors from different universities across Sikkim joined the meeting and delved into important topics such as the National Education Policy 2020, convocation attire, university profiles, recognition status, assessment at national and international levels, NIRF rankings, IQAC operations, ongoing PhD research, academic and examination calendars, academic programs, feedback systems, student enrolment efforts, faculty development, and research advancements, informs a Raj Bhawan release.
Addressing the meet, J.D. Bhutia highlighted the pivotal role of education in Sikkim's growth and development trajectory. He further emphasised the State’s conducive environment for learning, while underscoring the Governor’s keen interest in bolstering the education sector to nurture student enrolment and employment opportunities.
The meeting featured an insightful presentation by SRM University vice chancellor Prof. Ch. Satish Kumar, ICFAI University vice chancellor Dr. Jagannath Patnaik, Sikkim Central University registrar Dr Lakshman Sharma and Khangchendzonga State University vice chancellor Dr Ashish Sharma. Their brainstorming presentations shed light on various aspects pertinent to the State’s educational landscape, fostering dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders.
Also present in the meeting were Raj Bhavan OSD Dr. Sham Narayan and Raj Bhavan deputy secretary Diwas Gautam.
