GANGTOK,: The Intra-College MLBB tournament was successfully organized by
Esports Organisation of Sikkim (ESOS), in collaboration with Moonton and Nodwin
Gaming from November 20 to December 1.
Eight
colleges from Sikkim, viz. Sikkim Government College-Burtuk, NBBGC- Tadong,
ICFAI University, SMIT-Majhitar, SRM University, Namchi Government College,
Sikkim Manipal University and Medhavi Skills University participated in the
tournament. Colleges from Assam also participated.
Each
college winner was presented cash prizes of Rs. 15000 each. Over 40,00 MLBB
diamonds and official MLBB merchandise were also distributed, informs the
organisers at a press meet here on Tuesday.
“ESOS was
founded three years ago to nurture the gaming community. During our first press
conference held three years ago we had made several promises for the benefit of
the esports community in Sikkim. It is easy to make promises, as there will
come various hardships and challenges. We have fulfilled the promises we had
made to the local players. Our biggest highlight was collaborating with
Moonton, the creators of MLBB and Nodwin Gaming, the largest
esportsorganization in India. Our players have participated in different
national level tournaments. Although this intra-college MLBB was a test survey,
Moonton and Nodwin have given positive response and next year they have
promised 3-4 lakhs pool-prize,” expressed ESOS president James Palden Moktan.
ESOS
co-founder Rohan Pradhan stated that ESOS’s role is to coordinate and
facilitate the event in Sikkim, with the aim of boosting esports in Sikkim and
Sikkim a potential esports hub in the Northeast. The Intra-College MLBB
tournament was successfully conducted in Sikkim, he added.
ESOS
informed that the organization has conducted three seasons of BGMI in Sikkim.
In the first two seasons, the State government had supported ESOS, along with
local enterprises.
This year,
as the BGMI was conducted close to the elections, the State government had
assured support after the elections. Now that the elections and the BGMI season
3 is over, the concerned person from the concerned department has been avoiding
calls from ESOS, which had led the vendors to threaten ESOS with FIR against
them, said the ESOS. They have appealed to the concerned department to support
them.
“The
gaming companies and organisations are seeing potential in Sikkim. This is just
the beginning. We are not losing hope on our policy makers of the State, but we
are trying our best to overcome the challenges. In BGMI season 3 our gaming
partner Krafton has promised to provide two slots for Sikkim in the T1
nationals. Two teams from Sikkim also represented the State in the Esports
event at the Hornbill Festival this year. In BGMI season three, from among the
12 teams, four were from Sikkim and Sikkim was the winning team,” said ESOS.
