Gurung visits Mechi and Kakarbhitta areas of Indo-Nepal border

KAKARBHITTA (Nepal),: Nepal’s Home Minister Sudan Gurung who visited Indo-Nepal border on Monday was seen on roads taking actions against Indian number plate vehicle allegedly parked in no-parking zone in Kakarbhitta market.

He reviewed border security, assess the long-standing human-elephant conflict in Bahundangi and inspect key security installations along the Nepal–India border. During the visit, he met district security officials to discuss border management, smuggling, drug trafficking, human trafficking and other security challenges.

Gurung ordered the officials to take strict action against Indian vehicles if parked in no-parking zone or those do not have any permit. He directed the traffic officers to fine the Indian vehicle on the spot when he came out of his vehicle and marched on road to see the vehicles parked in market area.

He reached Mechi River Bed at Bahundangi village driving the vehicle of Chief District Officer to see the situation in border. He spoke with villagers regarding the man-elephant conflict and saw how elephant herd cross the border through binocular.

The Minister inspected the Mechi Customs Office and Kakarbhitta border point. He ordered strict checks on the valuation of goods. He also cracked down on the illegal practice of storing smuggled items in riverside warehouses.

He ordered the immediate removal of the temporary Armed Police Force camp at the Ittabhatta-Jorsimal section near the border to re-organize and streamline border arrangements.

Gurung inspected customs and implement strict laws targeting the border area. His recent actions focus heavily on tightening border customs, cutting down on vehicle harassment, and removing illegal vehicle.

He also interacted with villagers and asked their grievances during staying in border areas.
