GANGTOK,: Latecomers and early departures in State government offices would cost a half-day CL (casual leave) in coming days.

Employees walking in 30 minutes late or leaving their offices half an hour earlier could lose their half-day CL with the State government actively considering this measure to have punctuality and attendance.

Addressing a government function at Manan Kendra here on Tuesday, Chief Minister PS Golay pointed out that the Centre has recently notified that those Central government employees coming 15 minutes late or leaving 15 minutes earlier from their offices would see deduction of half-day CL.

“Why not in Sikkim also? If you all agree, let’s give a relaxation of 30 minutes. Henceforth, any government employees who reaches half an hour late or leaves half an hour earlier then why not we go for half CL? This is good for the public,” said the Chief Minister.

Reporting time in State government offices is 10 am and closing time is 4:30 pm.

Golay added that the State government is making provisions of ‘half CL’ for those reporting 30 minutes late or leaving 30 minutes earlier than scheduled time. This is for the good functioning of the government, he said, urging the department heads to be proactive on the strict adherence to punctuality and attendance.
