Khamsel ceremony observed at Tholung Monastery

MANGAN, (IPR): The revered Khamsel Ceremony, a sacred event observed every three years, was held from November 20 to 22 at Ngagyur Tholung Rigzin Choedrup Ling Monastery, popularly known as Tholung Gonpa. This spiritually significant occasion involved the rare display of sacred relics and artefacts, including the holy attire of Gyalwa Lhatsun Namkha Jigme, enshrined in the monastery since 18th century. These relics are deeply revered by devotees who travel from near and far to receive blessings during this rare and auspicious event.

The ceremony was graced by the Wong, a sacred ritual led by His Eminence Tingkye Gonjang Rinpoche of Gonjang Monastery, Bhojoghari and Tulku Pema Kundal of Enchey Monastery. Their esteemed presence brought immense spiritual depth and sanctity to the occasion, drawing devotees into an atmosphere of profound reverence and devotion. The leadership of these revered spiritual figures not only elevated the ceremonial proceedings but also provided blessings and inspiration to the countless pilgrims gathered, further enriching the significance of this sacred event.

Situated in Dzongu, North Sikkim, Tholung Monastery is a revered spiritual site and a prominent centre for Buddhist practices. This time, lunch and refreshments were thoughtfully arranged by the Dzongu Youth Association in collaboration with Minister and Area MLA (Dzongu) Pintso Namgyal Lepcha, under the guidance of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay). This act of hospitality reflected the community’s dedication to supporting the spiritual journey of devotees and fostering a sense of unity and service.
