GANGTOK, (IPR): The Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Chief
Minister's Office, SD Dhakal, as the chief guest inaugurated the Medhavi
College of Pharmacy and the Medhavi College of B Sc Nursing in an event hosted
by the Medhavi Skills University (MSU), here at Chintan Bhawan on Monday.
The theme for
the event was ‘Empowering Dreams & Building Futures for Viksit Bharat’,
wherein the first batch of the Medhavi College of B Sc Nursing took an oath to
mark the beginning of their academic journey.
The MSU also
took a significant leap forward by signing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs)
with reputed organizations, elevating its curriculum to new heights. The
partnering organizations include LogicKnots, Transorze Information Solutions
Pvt Ltd, Club Mahindra Resort - Le Vintuna (Gangtok), and Trika Energy Research
Private Limited. These strategic partnerships will enable MSU to offer enhanced
educational programs, foster industry-academia collaboration, and provide
students with hands-on experience and placement opportunities.
In his address,
Dhakal emphasized the pivotal role of skill development in shaping the future
of the next generation, particularly in the face of rapid technological
advancements. He underscored the importance of harnessing these skills to drive
growth in India's agriculture and horticulture sectors.
Furthermore,
Dhakal stressed the need to preserve traditional skills such as weaving, wood
carving, and embroidery, incorporating them into MSU's programs to foster an
appreciation of heritage and ancestral knowledge.
In
congratulating MSU on their new initiatives, he suggested expanding their
curriculum to include skill training for caregivers, in addition to nursing,
citing it as a pressing need of the hour.
The programme
began with the lighting of the lamp by the distinguished guests, followed by
the National Anthem performed by students. The welcome address was delivered by
Kuldip Sarma, Co-Founder and Pro-Chancellor of Medhavi Skills University,
sharing the university's vision for empowering students and contributing to a
self-reliant India.
A video
presentation showcased MSU’s journey in Sikkim, demonstrating the university’s
work in on-the-job learning and its role in supporting the mission of Viksit
Bharat. A briefing on MSU’s infrastructure was presented by Bharat Bhusan Bist,
Assistant Dean.
The event
concluded with a word of thanks proposed by Dr Siddharth Shanker, Deputy
Registrar MSU. Also present were MSU faculty, staff, and students.
