Minister Sonam Lama elected uncontested as Sikkim Archery Association president

GANGTOK,: Minister Sonam Lama has been elected uncontested as the president of the Sikkim Archery Association (SAA) in an election held on Friday.

Addressing the media, minister Sonam Lama thanked the election committee, observers, and SAA members for electing him unopposed. He highlighted the historical and cultural significance of archery in Sikkim and praised Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay for fostering sports and allied sectors in the state. “Under the leadership of CM PS Tamang, sports are progressing, and youth and athletes are being encouraged to excel,” he said. He called for collective efforts to develop archery and support budding aspirants at State, national, and international levels.

The new SAA executive body includes vice presidents Chewang Jigmee Lepcha and Jigme Y Lepcha, general secretary Dr. KB Gurung, joint secretaries Bikash Tamang and Pujan Rai, treasurer Sonam Choppel Bhutia, publicity secretary CT Bhutia, and executive members Dawday Bhutia, Diki Dolma Lepcha, Phurba Doma Bhutia, Sonam Paljor Bhutia, and Palden Barfungpa.

The election was conducted under the supervision of observers from the Archery Association of India (Delhi), Sikkim Olympic Association, and the State Sports department, with senior advocate Jorgay Namkha serving as the returning officer.
