MP visits IFFCO processing unit

GANGTOK,: Lok Sabha MP Indra Hang Subba on Friday visited the Integrated Processing Unit of Sikkim IFFCO Organics Ltd. (SIOL) at Rangpo. He was accompanied by Dr. S. Anbalagan, CEO of SOFDA, Agriculture department, and other officials from SIOL, who briefed him about the facility and its objectives, a press release informs.

The processing unit is being established to handle four key commodities: large cardamom, ginger, turmeric, and buckwheat, using advanced, state-of-the-art technology. Its primary aim is to add value to these locally-produced crops and market them in both domestic and international markets, ensuring direct benefits for the farmers of Sikkim.

This visit is particularly significant as Indra Hang is a member of the Consultative Committee of the Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries. He is expected to address any issues related to food processing in the state and advocate for the development of this vital sector to support the farmers and enhance Sikkim’s agricultural economy, the release mentions.
