GANGTOK, : Namchi Public School (NPS) felicitated its victorious Pipe Band for winning the 80th Independence Day Inter-School Band Competition held on August 16 at Mela Ground, Kalimpong.
Eighteen schools from across the region participated in the keenly contested competition. The victory was particularly significant as it marked the maiden competitive appearance of the NPS Pipe Band, informs a press release.
A special felicitation ceremony was organised at the NPS Multi-purpose Auditorium, where the parents of the band members were invited to share the memorable occasion.
Principal Rev. Fr. Francis Xavier Banerjee welcomed the parents and congratulated the young champions. Each band member was presented with a memento in recognition of their commendable performance.
The Pipe Band was introduced at the school last year under the initiative of the principal.
Band Master Prashant Bisunkey was also felicitated for his dedication and tireless efforts in training the students, helping transform the young musicians into competition winners in less than a year.
The principal commended the band members for their hard work and perseverance and thanked the parents for their wholehearted support and cooperation.
The achievement has brought pride to Namchi Public School and Sikkim and further strengthened the institution's reputation for promoting all-round excellence among its students, the release mentions.
