MANGAN, (IPR): The third joint inspection of the ongoing road restoration work
at Tarum Chu, along Chungthang-Lachen road, was conducted today under the
leadership of Minister for Social Welfare, Women, Child, Senior Citizen and
Divyangjan Welfare, Government of Sikkim and Area MLA, Lachen Mangan
constituency, Samdup Lepcha. He was accompanied by District Collector, Mangan,
Anant Jain, Superintendent of Police, Mangan, LB Chettri, Sub-Divisional
Magistrate, Chungthang, Arun Chettri, OC 86 RCC GREF, Major D. Vivek, along
with other officials and members of the public.
During
the inspection, Officer Commanding, 86 RCC, GREF, Major D. Vivek, briefed the
dignitaries on the current status of the road restoration work. He informed
that restoration activities have been progressing continuously on a
day-and-night basis to ensure the earliest possible reopening of the road.
Major
Vivek presented the progress of the work and the proposed plan through drone
footage, providing a detailed overview of the restoration site. He explained
that a minor landslide that occurred three days ago had caused a temporary
interruption to the operations. However, the work resumed promptly and is progressing
steadily.
He
further informed that a few more days would be required to complete the
restoration work, subject to favourable weather conditions and the stability of
the site.
The
Minister and the accompanying officers expressed satisfaction with the pace and
quality of the ongoing restoration work after witnessing the progress
firsthand. They appreciated the dedicated effort of the executing agencies and
personnel engaged in restoring road connectivity at the earliest while ensuring
safety and efficiency.
