GANGTOK,: The Sikkim Football Association (SFA) has nominated Sikkim Brotherhood
FC and Sikkim Aakraman FC for participation in the upcoming I-League 3
(2025-26) season.
“While
Sikkim Police football team emerged as the champions of the SFA A Division
S-League 2024-25, their status as an institutional team makes them ineligible
for nomination under the league’s current structure. Given this, Sikkim
Brotherhood FC, who secured second place in the league standings, has been
identified as the most suitable team for this prestigious opportunity, and we
are proud to put forward their name,” the SFA said in a press release.
Additionally,
the SFA has nominated Sikkim Aakraman FC, who secured third place in the league
standings, as well, recognising their commitment to football development in the
State.
The
final approval for participation rests with the All India Football Federation
(AIFF), and the SFA are awaiting their decision. “However, Sikkim FA remains
committed to ensuring that both clubs get the opportunity to represent Sikkim
on the national stage,” the release adds.
