‘Shape of Momo’ wins Grand Jury Award at Seattle International Film Festival

GANGTOK,  : ‘Shape of Momo’ film from Sikkimese filmmaker TribenyRai has won the Grand Jury Award in the New Directors Competition at the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF), one of the most prestigious platforms for breakthrough international filmmaking — days before the film’s theatrical release across India and Nepal on 29 May 2026.

The New Directors Competition at SIFF is specifically curated to spotlight the strongest debut and second features from emerging filmmakers around the world, and is widely recognised as a powerful launchpad for new international voices in cinema.

Director TribenyRaisaid: “It is so exciting to have won such a significant award at a time when we are about to release our film. I hope it helps with our release on the 29th of May.”

The award marks a significant milestone for TribenyRai’s debut feature film and its team as they prepare to bring Shape of Momo to audiences at home. The Nepali-language film opens in theatres across India and Nepal on 29 May 2026.
