GANGTOK, : Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur called on Prime Minister Narendra
Modi at New Delhi on Friday.
The
Governor conveyed his good wishes to the Prime Minister on behalf of the people
of Sikkim on the joyous occasion of the celebration of 50 years of Statehood, a
Raj Bhavan release informs.
During
this meeting, the Prime Minister and the Governor discussed various
developmental activities and welfare programs pertaining to the State.
Prime
Minister Modi reaffirmed the Central government’s commitment to supporting the
Himalayan State at all levels to create Sikkim a model State in the country.
In a brief
meeting, Mathur informed the Prime Minister that different initiatives were
taken by the State for permanent settlement of local residents in border
villages and strengthening rural infrastructure under the Vibrant Village
Programme.
Similarly,
the Governor called on Union Home minister Amit Shah the same day.
During the
courtesy meeting with the Union minister, Mathur apprised the various Central
government sponsored programmes in the State. He also sought the Union minister’s
guidance and support towards the development of the Sikkim.

security-related issues were discussed during the brief meeting, the Raj Bhavan
