Sikkim State Basketball Open Tournament 2025 begins with high energy

GANGTOK, (IPR): Sikkim State Basketball Open Tournament 2025, organised by Basketball Association of Sikkim (BAS), commenced Saturday at the basketball court of Paljor Stadium with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship. The four-day tournament brings together competitive teams from Sikkim and neighboring regions, promising an exciting showcase of talent and teamwork.

Basu Sharma, general secretary (in-charge), SKM Contractor Wing, attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest. He was received and welcomed by Jigmela Wazilingpa, general secretary, BAS, along with officials of the association.

Simultaneously, the inter-school basketball tournament for boys and girls got underway at Paljor Namgyal Girls’ Senior Secondary School (PNGSS) basketball court, featuring teams from various educational institutions.

In the men’s open category, 12 teams from Sikkim, West Bengal, Assam, and Nepal competed in the group league matches on Day 1.

Likewise, four teams in the women’s category are set to compete in a round-robin format. The inter-school and academy matches are being conducted under the knockout format and will continue over the next few days.

Game 1: Ravens vs Yak (Darjeeling)

Result: Ravens won 62–47

 

Game 2: Namtse Vets vs Yetis

Result: Yetis won 71–52

 

Game 3: Vikings vs Hounds Academy (Nepal)

Result: Hounds Academy won 81–46

 

Game 4: Times Club (Nepal) vs GTK Ballers

Result: Times Club won 81–44

 

Game 5: Ravens vs Diphu Nihang (Assam)

Result: Diphu Nihang won 59–57

 

Game 6: Namtse Vets vs 6/5 GR Army (West Bengal)

Result: 6/5 GR Army won 65–56

 

Game 7: Kaga Academy vs Vikings

Result: Kaga Academy won 65–62

 

Game 8: Gtk Ballers Vs ISA Nepal

Result: Gtk Ballers won 41-38

 

Game 9: Yetis vs 6/5 GR Army (WB)

Result: Yetis won 105-57

Game 2: Boys Category- Tashi Namgyal Senior Secondary School (TNSSS) vs Tashi Namgyal Academy (TNA)

Result: Tashi Namgyal Academy won 59–57

 

Game 3: Girls Category- GD Goenka vs Taktse International School (TIS)

Result: GD Goenka won 33–14

 

Game 4: Boys Category- Taktse International School (TIS) vs Namchi Public School (NPS)

Result: Namchi Public School won 58–47
