Pradhan from Kalimpong won the 2nd edition of Lt. Sita Devi Sharma Memorial
Invitational Championship 2026 the final of which was held today at Q Club,
Deorali.
Pradhan
defeated Vishal Golay 5-0 in a best of five match. Pradhan received a cash
prize of Rs. 1,50,000. He also won the trophy for highest break, with 45
points. Runner-up Vishal Golayfrom Darjeeling received a cash prize of Rs.
80,000.
The
semi-finalists, Bishan Limbu from Darjeeling and Suman Vishvakarma from
Gangtokreceived a cash prize Rs. 10,000 each. Dheeraj Rai from Gangtok was
adjudged the best upcoming player.
The
game had 32 participants from Sikkim, Silliguri, Kalimpong, Darjeeling and
Kurseong.
The
chief guest for the event was DIG Range TenzongLodey Lepcha, who also played an
exhibition match with Sikkim Snooker Association presidentBasu Sharma on the
occasion.
In
his address, Lepcha expressed appreciation towards the Sikkim Snooker
Association stating, “The image of the game (snooker) is quite negative, but
with the formation of association, the negativity is repelled and improved.”
He
added, "The success of the snooker association would be seen if one of our
young players reaches the national level, and for that the players need to
start from a young age, school-level inclusion will also help uplift the image
of the game and make it a proper sport.”
