SPYF writes to Transport dept seeking continuation of SNT buses during Dashain-Diwali festivals

GANGTOK,: The Sikkim Progressive Youth Forum (SPYF) has written to the Transport department secretary requesting for continuation of State-run SNT buses during Dashain and Diwali festivals.

“Festivals imply frequent trips to the markets and visiting distant families. Considering the inflated prices of private transportation it would be difficult for the general public to bear the expenses. SNT buses were initiated to help this situation. Thus, at the peak of the need for such buses their services must not be paused. It would help people use their limited monetary resources to celebrate the festival instead of just traveling,” wrote the SPYF in its letter on Saturday.

“Dusserha and Diwali are festivals of love, laughter, light and joy therefore the department must aid the people by making suitable travel arrangements for the public in this festive season. We hope you will look into the matter with utmost urgency and hope that your good self will bless citizens with the bare minimum facility we could ask for, i.e., access to SNT buses,” urged the SPYF to the Transport secretary.
