Sikkim committed to PM’s ‘Viksit
Bharat 2047’ vision: Golay
GANGTOK, : The Sikkim government has embarked on drafting a long-term development roadmap, ‘Viksit Sikkim 2047’, in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ — a national initiative aimed at transforming India into a developed nation by the centenary of its Independence.
The
process officially began on Monday with a two-day workshop held here at Manan
Kendra, inaugurated by Chief Minister PS Golay. Altogether 51 heads of
departments and State agencies are submitting their presentations detailing
achievements of the past one year along with the progress and plan for the next
four years, in alignment with the theme of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’.
Each
department was given 15 minutes for their presentations during the workshop,
attended by senior officials ranging from under-secretaries to secretaries and
above. The aim is to consolidate these inputs into a comprehensive vision
document that will guide Sikkim’s development trajectory over the next two decades.
In his
opening remarks, Chief Minister PS Golay spoke about the ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’
vision of the Prime Minister to mark the 100 years of Independence in 2047. Our
State has completed 50 years and it is also our responsibility towards making a
‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ and for this, we must make ‘Viksit Sikkim’, and hence we
are preparing a vision document through this important workshop, he expressed.
The Chief
Minister asserted that Sikkim whole-heartedly supports the ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’
vision of the Prime Minister and remains committed to achieve this vision.
Golay
informed that besides the physical presentations, the departments are also
submitting a written report to the State government as per the workshop’s
agenda. “We will set up a committee to study these reports and later come up
with a vision document of ‘Viksit Sikkim 2047’, your presentations would be a
huge contribution in this regard”, he told the gathering of senior government
officials.
The Chief
Minister urged the gathering to take the workshop presentations on a serious
note as it deals with charting the future course of Sikkim. He urged the
officials to attend the workshop for both days even if their presentations were
submitted on the first day. He encouraged all participants to fully engage with
the workshop, take cues from departmental presentations, and identify areas of
convergence.
On
Tuesday, after completion of all presentations, the Chief Minister along with
chief secretary R Telang would be giving their closing remarks. June 10 also
marks the completion of the first year of the second SKM government.
At the
outset, the Chief Minister extended warm congratulations to the Prime Minister
on the completion of the first year of the third consecutive term of the NDA
government at the Centre, marking a tenure dedicated to service, good
governance, and the welfare of the underprivileged. He highlighted Prime Minister
Modi’s inclusive vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka
Prayas’ stressing India’s strides toward becoming a global power.
