Subash Tamang elected as SFA Head of Referees

GANGTOK,: Seasoned referee Subash Tamang has been elected as the Head of Referees of the Sikkim Football Association (SFA) for the 2026-2030 term.

With this appointment, the 37-year-old will oversee the referees empanelled with the SFA for accredited tournaments and leagues in the State. He will also be responsible for deputing referees from Sikkim for tournaments outside the State.

"The Sikkim Football Association is pleased to announce that Subash Tamang has been elected as the Head of Referees for the period of 2026-2030. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Tamang on his successful election and wish him every success in his new role. May his tenure contribute significantly to the growth, development and excellence of football officiating in Sikkim," SFA general secretary Phurba Sherpa said on Sunday.

Subash has more than 22 years of experience in officiating football matches in Sikkim. He is a familiar face at major tournaments in Gangtok, including the SFA 'A' Division League, the State-level Independence Day Football Tournament and the Governor's Gold Cup.

He is a senior referee in Sikkim and also serves as an AIFF referee assessor and instructor. A resident of Upper Syari in Gangtok, he is employed with the Police Department.

As the SFA Head of Referees, Subash's immediate responsibility will be the 'A' Division S-League, which kicks off on July 16 at Paljor Stadium with the participation of 10 clubs. This will be followed by the Sir Thutob Namgyal Memorial Under-15 Championship and the Independence Day Cup for the Chogyal Sir Tashi Namgyal Men's Tournament in August.
