The amount was paid to the Sikkim Government from the proceeds of the Orchid Music Festival 2025, in recognition of the use of Paljor Stadium, Gangtok, and ancillary government support provided during the historic event.

SONJU Pvt Ltd and Rockski EMG (Events & Media Group), with support from the Government of Sikkim, organised Sikkim’s first international music concert, ‘Orchid Music Festival 2025’, on 13th December 2025 at Paljor Stadium.

Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay graced the historic musical event as the chief guest. The event was headlined by British pop band ‘Blue’ and all-girl K-pop band ‘Everglow’ from South Korea. Thousands of music lovers, especially K-pop fans from within and outside Sikkim, attended the event, which was also an important part of the year-long celebrations commemorating 50 Years of Sikkim Statehood.

“We extend our sincere gratitude to Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay, the Sports & Youth Affairs Department, and the Government of Sikkim for their invaluable support in enabling Sikkim’s first-ever international musical event. The cheque handed over to the Government of Sikkim from the proceeds of the Orchid Music Festival represents not just a fulfilment of our obligations, but a meaningful contribution towards building a sustainable and collaborative ecosystem for hosting large-scale musical events in the State. We are proud to consider ourselves partners in the global promotion of Sikkim as an emerging concert tourism destination,” said Sonam Gyaltsen Tenzing.

The organisers further stated that Orchid Music Festival 2025 successfully achieved its key objectives, particularly in establishing a strong foundation for Sikkim’s entry into the international concert and music tourism landscape.

“The festival was envisioned as a platform to position Sikkim on the global cultural map, attract high-value tourism, and create opportunities for future collaborations in the entertainment sector. The international visibility generated through globally acclaimed acts such as ‘Blue’ and ‘Everglow’ has significantly enhanced Sikkim’s profile and contributed to increased tourist interest in the State. Building on this momentum, we look forward to organising similar international musical events that will further strengthen Sikkim’s image as a vibrant and attractive destination for visitors,” they added.
