Thapa takes Gangtok water scarcity issue with Governor

GANGTOK,: State BJP president DR Thapa on Saturday paid a courtesy call on Governor Om Prakash Mathur at Lok Bhawan in Gangtok.

During the meeting, the State BJP president highlighted the pressing concerns of the people of Sikkim, particularly the severe water scarcity affecting the capital, Gangtok. He emphasized the day-by-day increasing demand for water during the peak tourist seasons in April-May, which is likely to pose significant challenges in meeting the needs of both residents and visitors.

Thapa requested the Governor to intervene and facilitate sustainable solutions by coordinating with the relevant State departments and the Central Ministry, a State BJP press release informs.

The Governor expressed his deep concern over the issue and assured proactive initiatives to address the water crisis and ensure a lasting resolution for the residents of Gangtok, said the State BJP.
