Three arrested with pistols at Bagdogra

SILIGURI,: Bagdogra police in a joint operation with Special Operation Group of Siliguri Metropolitan Police have arrested three persons along with two 9 mm pistols and 30 rounds of live cartridges from Bagdogra.

The team after tip-off on Wednesday evening raided a bus coming from Balurghat to Siliguri near Bhuttabari and Bagdogra airport approach road and apprehended the three accused persons. When a search was made, police found pistols and live cartridges and five cell phones from the persons.

Police said that they had received prior information about their travelling on the public bus towards Siliguri from Balurghat.

The arrested persons are Pulak Roy (25), Sumitra Pal (42) and Pritam Sarkar. They are residents of Hili village of Balurghat under Dakshin Dinajpur district of Bengal.

The police team has started a probe to see if any other people are involved and whether there was any planning of crime or deal to sell the consignment in Siliguri or adjacent areas.
