minister Tshering T. Bhutia today inspected the ongoing Singshore Bridge
glass-deck skywalk project near Uttarey in Gyalshing district.
The tourism infrastructure project is being
developed with support from the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region
(DoNER) under PM-DevINE scheme.
It aims to transform the iconic Singshore Bridge,
located between Dentam and Uttarey, into a major tourist and adventure
destination featuring a transparent glass-floored skywalk and bungee jumping
facilities.
During the inspection, minister Bhutia reviewed
the progress of the project and directed the executing agency to expedite the
work while ensuring adherence to prescribed quality standards. He assured all
possible support from the department for the timely and quality completion of
the project.
The transformation of Singshore Bridge into a
glass-deck skywalk is expected to further strengthen Sikkim’s tourism
infrastructure by providing visitors with panoramic views of the surrounding
Himalayan landscape and introducing a major new adventure-tourism attraction in
the State.
