Tribeny Rai wins Dr. V. Shantaram Debut Director Award at the 22nd Third Eye Asian Film Festival

GANGTOK,: Sikkimese filmmaker Tribeny Rai was honoured with the Dr. V. Shantaram Debut Director Award at the 22nd Third Eye Asian Film Festival. Her debut feature film, ‘Shape of Momo’, was selected for the Indian Competition section of the festival.

At the same festival, Gaumaya Gurung received the Jury Award for Best Actor (Female) for her compelling performance in ‘Shape of Momo’. The awards were accepted on behalf of the filmmaker and the actor by the film’s cinematographer, Archana Ghangrekar, at the closing ceremony held in Mumbai last night. 

The awards were presented by Kiran V. Shantaram, Chairman of the Asian Film Foundation.

Expressing her gratitude, Tribeny Rai said, “We are elated and deeply grateful for the recognition our film has been receiving. We hope that the journey of ‘Shape of Momo’ will inspire many young people from my state to step into the world of filmmaking.”
