GANGTOK, : Former Chief Minister and SDF president Pawan
Chamling on Saturday chaired a party meeting at the SDF headquarters here,
attended by senior party functionaries and district heads.
Addressing the meeting, Chamling said the SDF has a huge responsibility
to protect Sikkim and its people. He maintained that, except for the SDF, no
other political party in Sikkim is sincere towards the State and its people.
Other political parties in Sikkim are aligned with capitalists and
political parties from outside the State, and their owners are from outside the
State, Chamling said.
“They are spreading propaganda that I have left politics, but this will
remain their dream only. They always dream of me quitting politics. I will not
leave politics or my party, as it will leave the people of Sikkim orphaned. I
cannot leave the Sikkimey Janata orphaned. I love Sikkim and the people of
Sikkim immensely, and I am their guardian. I have always done politics to save
the people of Sikkim from their enemies and will continue doing so,” said the
SDF president.
He urged SDF workers to counter what he termed a false narrative being
spread against him and to work towards taking the party forward.
Chamling alleged that the SKM government has ruined Sikkim and warned
that generations of Sikkimese will have to pay for the extravagant expenditure
of the SKM government.
At the meeting, senior SDF functionaries also shared their opinions and suggestions, the SDF press release said.
