Yangang recognized as nation’s upcoming tourist destination at MIcE Affairs annual event

GANGTOK, : Continuing Sikkim’s impressive rise on the national tourism map, Yangang in South Sikkim has been officially recognized as the ‘Upcoming Tourist Destination – India’ by MIcE Affairs Magazine at its prestigious annual event in Gurugram.

This recognition is especially meaningful given MIcE Affairs’ longstanding interest in South Sikkim, a press release informs.

Delegates from the magazine visited Yangang last year, immersing themselves in the region’s tourism and recognizing its unmatched potential not only within Sikkim but across the entire Northeast. During their time in Yangang, the MIcE Affairs team spent several days with local tourism stakeholder Robin Basnet, gaining firsthand insight into Yangang’s hospitality, rich cultural heritage, and enterprising local community.

The delegates’ visit deepened their belief in Yangang’s potential as a standout destination. This confidence is further affirmed as major hospitality brands - most notably ITC Hotels - are preparing to establish a presence in the region, a development poised to accelerate Yangang’s emergence as a premier tourist hotspot, the release mentions.

Upcoming projects in Yangang like the Skywalk and Bhaledunga Ropeway, which have already garnered significant media attention, further corroborate this positive outlook.

The organizers emphasized: “Yangang’s selection is a testament to its untapped potential and the region’s dedication to curating immersive, meaningful travel experiences that reflect Sikkim’s rich culture and ecological harmony. We are delighted to recognize Yangang as a rising star in Indian tourism.”
