GANGTOK, : The Nepali essay collection ‘YesariBujhda’ by Professor
Dr.DiwakarPradhan, published by Janapaksya Prakashan, Gangtok, was released in
a programme held at Gangtok on Saturday. The book comprises research-based and
philosophical essays.
The
event was chaired by renowned litterateur Raj K. Shrestha, with linguist
Dr.GokulSinha as the chief guest. The program was organized in memory of the
author’s late wife, NirmalaPradhan, on the occasion of her fourth death
anniversary. The event commenced with a floral tribute offered in front of her
portrait.
In
his concluding remarks, Raj K. Shrestha expressed gratitude for having a
scholar like Professor Pradhan among them and expressed hope that he would
continue to produce guiding texts in the future. He also highlighted the
grandeur of the event.
In
his address, chief guest Dr.GokulSinha praised the author’s effort to reveal
different dimensions of culture and described it as a commendable initiative.
He noted that when such refined interpretations are published, they greatly
benefit the newer generations.
Author
Dr.DiwakarPradhan expressed that his deep engagement lies in understanding the
world through the lens of Sanatan
(eternal) philosophy. He described the book as a humble effort to explore,
reflect on, and answer the timely questions posed by curious students. While it
may not answer every question, it aims to provide useful insights, he added.
In
the ceremony, Dr.BalramPandey from Sikkim University and Dr.TekBahadurChettri
from Nar BahadurBhandari Government College, Tadong, both of whom contributed
to the book’s foreword, highlighted the book’s significance, value, and
usefulness.
Dr.Pandey
emphasized that the essays discussing established and indigenous religions and
cultures explore the Gorkha identity and should find a place in every
household.
Dr.Chettri
expressed that the book plays a vital role in disseminating information and
knowledge, urging readers not just to enjoy it passively, but to engage with
it, write, and actively spread awareness.
The
event had poetry recitations from poet Praveen Khaling, ParshuDhakal, and
RanjanaKarki. Also present were senior litterateurs, cultural scholars, social
workers, researchers, students, and media representatives.
