Friday Field/Farm Day initiative ‘exceeds its objectives’

GANGTOK,: The Friday Field/Farm Day initiative, launched by the office of the Additional District Collector (Dev), Pakyong, has achieved remarkable success in its 16th episode.

This mission, aimed at reviving barren lands for cultivation, has not only met but exceeded its objectives, informs a press release.

“With the unwavering support of panchayats and energetic government employees, Friday Field/Farm Day has become a shining example of community-driven development. The harvesting of pulses, millet, and various vegetables has significantly enhanced the Own Source Revenue (OSR) of gram panchayats, introducing innovative ways to promote sustainable agriculture and community development.”

The initiative has not only improved the economic prospects of local farmers but has also promoted social inclusion, environmental conservation and rural development, the release states.
