PAKYONG: Senior minister D.T. Lepcha on Sunday said the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) party has blown the bugle for coming 2019 Assembly elections and asserted the invincibility of his Gnathang-Machong constituency.
“I have not learnt how to lose elections. Every time I have won elections with highest margin. This coming elections too, the opposition parties will suffer humiliating defeat in Gnathang-Machong constituency,” said Lepcha during a public meeting at Pachey, Pakyong.
“There are more than 12,000 voters in our constituency and out of these votes, only 400-500 votes will go to the opposition candidates and again the opposition parties will face a huge defeat. Due to the good programmes and policies of our SDF government, public will cast their votes in our favour,” said Lepcha.
“The developmental works which have taken in the Gnathang-Machong constituency for the last four to five years will not happen in the span of fifty years too if the opposition candidates wins from this area,” he added.
Lepcha informed that the elections could be declared within four months.
We have blown the bugle at this meeting, now our party activities will start in every ward and villages, said Lepcha appealing the party workers to stay united.
The area MLA shared about the various developmental works that have taken place in the constituency.
Lepcha said Chief Minister Pawan Chamling has led Sikkim to the right direction and progress. There is a guarantee that SDF will lead Sikkim to progress and development and there is a risk that the future of Sikkim will be led to destruction if opposition parties come to power, he said. We have trusted our leader Pawan Chamling for the last 25 years and under his leadership, Sikkim is progressing in the right direction, he added.
The area MLA sought suggestions from the party workers, senior citizens and panchayats for celebrating the SDF government formation day taking place on December 12.
The meeting decided to celebrate the SDF government formation day at all GPUs with participation of all panchayats, public and party workers.
