Youths of Sikkim are with SDF: DB Thapa


GANGTOK: The ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) on Wednesday opened its party office at Tibet Road here in presence of party functionaries and large number of youth workers.
Youth representatives from Bhutia, Lepcha, Nepali and old business communities inaugurated the party office. The inauguration ceremony was attended by SDF east district in-charge D.B. Thapa, Gangtok MLA Pintso Chopel Lepcha, Arithang MLA Shyam Pradhan, Upper Burtuk MLA D.R. Thapa, Chujachen MLA Bikram Pradhan, Gangtok mayor Shakti Singh Choudhary, GMC chairman Ashish Rai and party office-bearers.
Speaking to media, D.B. Thapa said the SDF party believes in youth empowerment. The youths of Sikkim are with SDF and we have a large number of youths in the party as panchayats, constituency level presidents and other posts, he said.
Addressing the gathering, the Gangtok MLA said the era of SDF government in Sikkim under Chief Minister Pawan Chamling can be termed as a ‘golden era of Sikkim’. All necessary developmental needs have been done, houseless have been given houses, start-up funds for youths, free education till graduation level and now the 1000 bedded multi-speciality hospital is being shortly inaugurated, he said.
The Arithang MLA expressed confidence that the SDF party will sweep all 32 seats in the upcoming 2019 Assembly elections. We have to work on a war-footing to ensure victory for the SDF party and reach out to all people across the State, he said.
