HPV vaccination campaign from Feb 19 to Mar 6

GANGTOK (IPR): A meeting on Special Task Force Immunization (STFI) committee on National Immunization Day (NID) Pulse Polio Round and 2nd round of HPV vaccination campaign was held at the Conference Hall of the Health department, today.
The meeting was chaired by the Health commissioner-cum-secretary Vishal Chauhan where special secretary (RMDD), Anil Raj Rai; Mission Director-ICDS (SJEWD), P. Bhutia; Director- School Education (HRDD); H. Gyaltsen; medical superintendent, Dr. K.B Gurung; Surveillance Medical Officer (WHO) S. Ray; Health Officer-NE (UNICEF), Maulik Shah; doctors and representatives of the Health department and officers from the Labour and HRD departments were present.
Chauhan, in his address, said that all work should be carried out efficiently and asked the departments involved to concentrate outside schools as well. He also asked the officials of HRD department to provide a feedback/report on the data of Iron Folic and Calcium tablets being distributed at schools as anaemia is an issue of concern in the State.
S. Ray presented an analysis report on the vaccination campaigns done so far and provided district-wise data and figures. He also explained in detail how the vaccinations are carried out as well as the information on workshop and training undertaken by the health officers and medical staff. He provided information as to how the immunization process and booth activities are conducted so as to derive accurate result in numbers; Counter measures and mop-up activities to make sure that immunization is carried out thoroughly were always explained.
Dr. P. Denzongpa, SIO (HC, HS&FW) stated that an amount of Rs. 9.39 lakh was allotted by the Government of India to carry out the vaccination and campaigns. The Pulse Polio round will be conducted on the 3rd of February and 2nd round of HPV Vaccination Campaign is scheduled from 19th February till 6th March, 2019. She presented the HPV Campaign details reporting that as per 14th August 2018, 96.69% had been vaccinated. She also revealed the number of vaccine stock available and details of their expiration dates, announcing that the department was well equipped. She requested the other departments involved to extend their support, particularly to the ICDS cell of SJEWD and their Aganwadi workers.
She also threw light on the National Deworming Day (8TH February) saying that the target would be all children and young adults between the ages of 1 and 19.
Chauhan expressed his gratitude to all for attending the meeting and said that a systematic and methodical team work would bring about cure and caution, both.
