GANGTOK:  With Royal United Sikkim FC having already wrapped up the 2017 Play 24/7 Sikkim Premier League, there was essentially nothing at stake in Monday’s league climax.
The final day saw Sikkim Himalayan SC and 2016 champions Aakraman FC take on Pakyong United and Dzongri FC respectively, at Paljor Stadium here.
The Himalayan SC ended the campaign with a 3-0 routing of debutants Pakyong United but the game was essentially a dead rubber with Himalayan SC already assured of second position and berth in upcoming Governor’s Gold Cup, having 2 points advantage over third-placed Boys Club with one game to go.
With the win, Himalayan SC notched 16 points, three points fewer than the champions, Royal United who remained unbeaten throughout the league.
Boys Club finished third in the table with 11 points.
Aakraman FC, who defeated Dzongri FC 5-2 today, had to settle for 5th place with 10 points. State Sports Academy, who also had 10 points, grabbed the fourth position with better goal difference.
Sikkim Police (5 points), Pakyong United (3 points) and Dzongri FC (1 point) finished at bottom.
