SKM has become a puppet of Delhi: SDF

SE Report
The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) has become a puppet in the hands of Delhi by forming an alliance with a national party before the elections, said the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) on Wednesday.
“The SKM party, which believes in only violence and destruction, have placed their shop of self-interest to Delhi seeing the election bazaar. This has clearly exposed their hidden agenda and politics. It has now become easier for the people of Sikkim to differentiate who are their friends and who are their enemies. By forming an alliance with a national party before the elections, the SKM party has become a puppet of Delhi,” said SDF spokesperson Amber Rai in a press statement.
The SKM party is joining hands with BJP for an electoral alliance and the party is presently in talks with the BJP leadership on seat sharing and other election-related matters. The formal announcement of seat sharing and candidature is expected to be disclosed this week.
In his press statement, the SDF spokesperson said the SKM-BJP alliance has ‘disrespected’ the people of Sikkim and also ‘auctioned’ the aspirations of the people. It is a cruel blow on the future of the Sikkimey Janta, he said adding that the BJP-SKM alliance is ‘never in the interests of the people of Sikkim’.
Rai maintained that the special identity of Sikkim and its people has been secured due to the governance of the regional party in the State. The Constitution has given special rights to the people of Sikkim and all these have been fully protected by the SDF, he said.
Meanwhile, a high-level meeting of the SDF party took place at Samman Bhawan here on Wednesday. It was chaired by Chief Minister and SDF president Pawan Chamling and attended by senior functionaries of the ruling front.
Speaking with SIKKIM EXPRESS, SDF spokesperson K.T. Gyaltsen said the party president has issued several directives and election strategies to the party functionaries.
“The SDF candidates for the 32 Assembly seats and one Lok Sabha seat would be announced by this Saturday. We cannot mention the exact date but can say that the candidates would be announced within this week,” said Gyaltsen.
“The decision on the candidates will be the final decision of the party. All have to agree with the decision of the party. The upcoming election is to protect the future and existence of Sikkim,” said the SDF spokesperson. He informed that the SDF election manifesto would be unveiled on the first or second day of next week.
The election manifesto of the party is ready to be presented before the public, said Gyaltsen. He said the SDF party is fully prepared for the elections.
