68% pass result for Sikkim in CBSE X board exams

Aditi Basnet from Holy Cross School gets 97%

Sikkim recorded a pass percentage of 67.92% in the CBSE class X board exams as per the data available with the State HRD department. The CBSE class X board exams results had been declared on Monday.
Altogether 9,691 students including those from government schools, private schools and private candidates in Sikkim had been listed for the CBSE class X board exams this year. Among them, 6,582 students cleared the exams making it is a success rate of 67.92% for Sikkim.
In 2018, the pass percentage for CBSE class X board exams for Sikkim was 62.14%. There is an increase of 5.77% in pass percentage as compared to last year, said the HRD department.
A total of 186 students could not clear the board exams. The fail percentage for Sikkim this year is 1.92%, a drop of 2.71% as compared to previous year’s result.
A total of 2,732 students got compartment results while 188 students remained absent for the board exams.
The Holy Cross School, Tadong here has secured excellent results in the CBSE class X board exams. A total of 97 students from the school gave the board exams and 96 of them cleared it. One student got compartment.
Holy Cross School student Aditi Basnet got 97% marks which should rank her among the State toppers. Twenty of the Holy Cross School students got marks above 90%.
Speaking with SIKKIM EXPRESS, additional chief secretary (HRD) G.P. Upadhyaya said the students from Sikkim have performed well in the CBSE X board exams and the pass percentage has improved as compared to 2018 results. The efforts put in by the government to improve the education sector has brought good results and we aim to do better in coming years also, he said.
Upadhyaya informed that all the students studying within and outside the State under Chief Minister Meritorious Scholarship Scheme have cleared their board exams.
Similarly, our Pakyong correspondent adds that the JNV Pakyong has secured a 100% pass result in the CBSE class X board exams. All the 38 students cleared the exams while Suruchi Kumari topped the school with 92.5%.
Dawkit Lepcha from Namcheybong government senior secondary school topped her school with 76.6% in CBSE class X board exams. A total of 24 students from the school had given the board exam. Among them 14 students passed, nine got compartment while one student failed.
