Counting to be held in 23 counting halls in 4 districts

The counting of votes for simultaneous elections to Sikkim Parliamentary constituency and Sikkim Legislative Assembly is scheduled on May 23.               The counting shall take place at respective district headquarters by the respective Returning Officers.
As per the direction of the Supreme Court, mandatory verifications of VVPAT paper slips of randomly selected five polling stations of Assembly segments of Sikkim Parliamentary constituency and Assembly constituencies has to be conducted after completion of counting of EVMs and postal ballots.
Therefore, in order to complete counting in time, counting halls in the counting centre earmarked for respective districts have been increased with due approval of the ECI.
A press release from the State Election department informs that a total of six counting halls have been set up in Kyongsa Girls senior secondary school for eight West district constituencies and the Sangha segment. In South district, six halls have been set up in Namchi senior secondary school for the eight constituencies and Sangha Assembly segments. The North district counting centre at district administrative centre Mangan has three halls for the three constituencies and Sangha segment. Similarly, a total of eight counting halls have been set up at Biraspati Parsai senior secondary school, Ranipool for the 12 constituencies of the district along with the Sangha segment.
