State chief secretary A.K. Shrivastava along with the ACS, principal secretaries, HoDs, DC (east) and officials called on caretaker Chief Minister Pawan Chamling and extended best wishes at Mintokgang today.
Chamling, in his brief address, said in democracy we should all uphold the mandate of the people and work towards constructive development of the State. Stating that we should all cooperate and work in unison for implementation of policies efficiently and honestly, he made a strong commitment to act as a constructive opposition leader and to set an example about what opposition is and its responsibilities, an IPR release informs.
In his social media page, Chamling posted about his meeting with the senior government officials.
“I am a soldier of democracy. I will stay wherever the people keep me. This time they want me to be in the opposition and I respect that mandate. Now I shall show what opposition is and what its real role is,” posted Chamling about his interaction.
The outgoing Chief Minister added that the administration should be democratized and systematized to ensure equality that will boost society towards democratic setup. He affirmed that the State government under his leadership for last 25 years will be considered as golden era in the history of Sikkim. He also shared his experiences of being associated with the bureaucracy for last 25 years and anticipated sense of gratitude for the security, respect, cooperation and non-interference for their work and policies.
Chamling also underlined achievements made by the State government under his leadership and pointed out notable accomplishments which have transformed Sikkim into the most progressive State in the country.
Chief secretary A.K. Shrivastava, on behalf of the bureaucrats, expressed deep gratitude to Chamling for his contributions and extended best wishes for his future endeavours. We should all respect the mandate and will of the people, he said adding that in a democratic set-up, players may change but the game continues.
At the end, Shrivastava thanked Chamling and stated that the State has progressed by leaps and bounds and the State today prides itself in the success and progress it has achieved over the decades.
