Siliguri karate players to participate in international karate championship

More than 30 karate players from Siliguri will be participating in the 5th International Karate Championship slated to be held at Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata from July 26 to 28.
The participants including girls and boys aged between 12 to 17 years are working hard to bag gold medals for Siliguri. Hundreds of karate players from India, USA, Iran, Kuwait, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and Serbia will be participating in the championship organised by Globel Seishinkai Shito-Ryu Karate-Do Federation.
Karate master and coach Subir Sarkar is presently training 13 students for the international event. He said, “Students including boys and girls are being given rigorous training and asked to maintain diet properly. This is the third time our students are participating in the international event.”
Subir is presently training around 600 students in various classes in Siliguri and 20 students who are financially weak are given free training.
Sonu Kanam, Aradhana Pandit and many others are quite excited to participate in the championship at Kolkata.
Sonu said, “I am working hard and practicing twice daily, we are given proper training including international methods of fight, health tips and diet by our coach.”
