CM calls on Mos Finance, seeks hill-specific schemes

NEW DELHI,(IPR): Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) called on Minister of State (Finance & Corporate Affairs) Anurag Singh Thakur today at North Block, New Delhi.
Both the Chief Minister and Minister of State recalled their friendship relation from 2007 onwards.
The Chief Minister raised the issue of financial mismanagement by the previous government as a result of which the debt burden to the State is very huge.
Thakur on the other hand requested to place a memorandum about it and has assured to discuss with the Union Minister of Finance during inter-ministerial meeting.
The Chief Minister highlighted about the various schemes which may be suitable to the plains area, nonetheless, those are facing many difficulties as regard to the cost, design and other geographical challenges in the hilly places like Sikkim.
The minister assured that all these issues of environment, livelihood and other challenges will be discussed during the conference of Himalayan States which is being held during November-December, 2019. He also requested the Chief Minister to deliver a talk on difficulties faced by Sikkim due to the tough terrain and other logistic hitches.
Thakur also suggested to have inter-Himalayan games which can be held in different States so that the youth having the different strength can learn the games by conducting exchange programme.
The Chief Minister has suggested that the Sikkim has good potentiality in sports like football, taekwondo, boxing, karate, wushu and archery. The meeting concluded with congratulating each other for the assumption of new offices in the government.
