People should not face injustice because of panchayats’ political affiliations, says Bhim Hang Subba

GEYZING,: Yangthang MLA and minister Bhim Hang Subba attended a coordination meeting, his first since getting elected as the MLA, with public and panchayat members of the constituency today at the conference hall of Zilla Panchayat Bhawan here.
The meet organized by Geyzing BAC was all about sensitizing the public about various welfare works being executed in the constituency and to inform people about the future project and schemes.
The meeting was also attended by ADC (Development) Surat Gurung, Geyzing BDO Dinesh Pradhan and officials of various government departments.
At the outset, the BDO informed that the meeting was called to aware the people on numerous public welfare schemes being executed through gram panchayat units operational in Yangthang constituency. He said that the meeting was also a part of the BAC's effort to bring people together at a single platform for deliberating numerous issues concerning Yangthang constituency.
In the meeting, Rural Development Assistants from some GPUs presented report on various public welfare works being done in the GPUs of Yangthang constituency. They informed that most of the projects have been completed and some are pending due to various reasons. They placed details on the funds allocated to the GPUs by the State and the Central government under various government schemes.
Bhim Hang Subba, minister Water Supply & Public Health Engineering and Water Resources and River Development departments, elucidated about roles of panchayats and their responsibilities for implementation of various public based schemes in an effective and transparent way.
Pressing for unbiased and legal approach the panchayat members should adopt while including the people in the State and Central government-funded schemes, Subba expressed that the governmental benefits must reach to eligible and needy people.
Claiming that mismanagement and partiality have happened while including people under BPL category and the people from white collar section are reaping benefits, the MLA informed that the State government has decided to initiate a fresh survey to determine the genuine BPL families. He shared that non-governmental organizations would be tasked to conduct the survey to ensure transparency and justice to common people.
Subba stressed that panchayat members should work as people's representatives without placing people's political affiliations under scanner to appease any political faction. "Injustice should not happen to the poor and needy people because of panchayat members' political interests and affiliations. The government benefits should reach to each and every needy household,” he said.
Minister further informed that assessments of all the public welfare works completed and under progress in the constituency would be done in the upcoming days and a team comprised of area MLA himself, line department officials and panchayat members would be the part of assessment committee. "Assessment will be done GPU-wise and all the aspects of the completed and pending works will be brought to proper inspection,” He said.
Speaking on problems of drinking water and water for irrigation, Subba maintained that as a minister of water resources, his priorities is always to find the solution of the problem related to water crisis in the constituency. He stated that exploration and development of water sources in the constituency and making provision of easy availability of water would be the priority of SKM government. The State government is always there to serve the people and their needs, he added.
The minister also pitched for a united and coordinated approach from the governmental officials, panchayat members and the people for the development of Yangthang constituency. “The development is possible if the approach is right and the interest is selfless. Let us make Yangthang constituency a model constituency through a constructive and collective effort. I need the support of all as many developmental works need to be initiated in Yangthang constituency,” Subba signed off.
