Minister takes stock of Geyzing roads, slide damages

GEYZING,: Agriculture minister and area MLA Lok Nath Sharma, accompanied by DC West Karma R. Bonpo and other officials of the district administration visited the areas from Geyzing bazar to Omchung school today.
The minister during his visit examined and took proper account of various issues of the public in regards to basic facilities like electricity, water, condition of sewage line, waste management, protection walls and others needed for the people of the community residing in the area. He then asked concerned authorities to give extreme attention towards the issues of public and has urged them to take necessary steps in favour of the benefit of the people. He also advised the officials that schemes should be well utilized by the public for their own benefit.
Further, he also met with the vegetable vendors of Geyzing market and interacted with them in regards to the problems faced by them.
In the afternoon, minister Sharma inspected the under construction 8th Mile (Geyzing) to Omchung road and took stock of damages caused to lands of people. It may be mentioned here that the local residents had stopped the road construction work maintaining that the concerned contractor was working on his own will disregarding the concern raised about damages of lands, households and crops of the people. Minister Sharma directed the concerned contractor Prashant Subedi to follow the proper norms while undertaking the project. He pressed that proper wall and drainage facilities should be constructed as per the need and the voice of concern raised by people should be heard. Development should happen but the cost of the development should not be people' loss, he said.
The minister later visited various landslide affected households and assured all the help from the State government.
