State-level Tendong Lho Rum Faat celebrations at Gezying

GANGTOK,: A preparatory meeting for the upcoming Tendong Lho Rum Faat celebration was held Sunday under the chairmanship of HRD minister Kunga Nima Lepcha.
The meeting held in Gangtok was attended by SLA deputy Speaker Sangay Lepcha, Cultural Affairs minister Samdup Lepcha, elders and youth scholars of Lepcha community and the executives of Sikkim Lepcha Association, Sikkim Lepcha Youth Association, Renzyong Mutanchi Ringmom Kurmom, Affected Citizens of Teesta, Rong Study Forum, Sikkim Indigenous Lepcha Tribe Association and Bhutia Kayrab Yargay Tsogpa.
Sikkim Lepcha Association president Tseten Lepcha presented a road map to Tendong Lho Rum Faat celebration for the betterment of Lepcha community. Dr. Panu Pazo, assistant professor at Namchi Government College, briefed the gathering about the Lepcha language study forum and encouraged in working hand-in-hand on several vital issues.
After discussions, the meeting decided to hold a State-level celebration at Kyongsa ground, at Geyzing on August 8 and further proposed to invite Chief Minister P.S. Tamang (Golay) to be the chief guest of the occasion.
In the address, minister Kunga Nima Lepcha stressed on making the organisation non-political and community-friendly, and hoped that the organization works for the upliftment and betterment of the downtrodden. The chief guest wished that he and the entire government is striving towards preserving Sikkim’s culture and heritage.
