CSIR-UGC NET centre in Gangtok

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has for the first time listed Gangtok as the test centre for the CSIR-UGC NET scheduled to be held on December 15.Now CSIR aspirants can appear the test at Gangtok and need not to travel to Kolkata or other near CSIR centres.
Welcoming the decision, Sikkim Lok Sabha MP Indra Hang Subba said allocation of CSIR centre at Gangtok can save time and expense of CSIR aspirants from Sikkim and Darjeeling region.
Indra Hang, also a research scholar himself, had been pursuing the demand for starting of CSIR NET centre in the State. He along with Sikkim Central University vice-chancellor Avinash Khare had met UGC director general Shekhar C. Mande on July 23 with the demand.
Indra Hang thanked the director general and the vice-chancellor for their support, a press release informs.
The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)exam is conducted for determining the eligibility for the candidate to be appointed as a lecturer in the fields of chemical sciences, earth, atmospheric, ocean and planetary sciences, life sciences, mathematical sciences, physical sciences.
The candidates can also be eligible for JRF after clearing the exam depending on the scores.
