A Fit India Ploughing Run was held at Namchi Wednesday on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
Fit India Plogging Run is a unique combination of picking up litter while jogging. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in Mann Ki Baat address, had termed it as an innovative exercise to fulfil the dreams of Mahatma Gandhi. The event was organised across the country on October 2.
At Namchi, the event was organised by Sports Authority of India’s Namchi unit, in collaboration with Sports & Youth Affairs department and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan. District collector flagged off the two-km run from central park here in the morning. The run was participated by general public, students of Namchi SAI SAG Centre, NYK volunteers and staff from different government departments.
Likewise, Namchi Government College students walked to college from town collecting waste to generate awareness on cleanliness and sanitation.
